What to do while waiting for the big AAA titles

Around christmas 2008 games were coming out with abundence but now we have all played through Gears of war 2, Call of duty: World at war, Mirror's Edge, Left 4 Dead, Fallout 3 etc before christmas and Street fighter 4, Resident evil 5, Killzone 2 since. The question is what to do now. Is it just me or do games not have the same longetivity (if that is a word) I remember playing games for months now it is weeks if that. There are a few things you can do

1 Replay the games for the achievements or trophies or to make sure you have done everything you can on the game

2 Get the DLC for the game

3 get older games you may have missed out of when they was released.

I went for number 3 as number 1 does not really interest me (at this point) as I don't have any interest in going over the same parts of games again to get to the content I have missed previously. Number 2 I looked over because most of them do not represent good value for money especially when the content for a few is already on the disk. For example how can I justify spending money on a outfit for my Guile in street fighter 4 (not that they come in singles anyway) or fallout 3 when I did not trapse over every yard of land in the game.

Actually I have a beef with this game anyway. I was really enjoying it then I finished it within about 30-35 hours. When I say finished I don't mean 100% I mean got the ending. I did not know it was the ending and did not save before hand ( My stupid fault I know) but I have still not got to grips with making different save files or saving regularly but thats for another blog. My point is now if I wanted to continue I have 2 options start from scratch or wait for this 3rd DLC to come out with removes the ending and the level 20 cap but I am unwilling to pay for something that should have been in the game anyway.

My other grief with DLC is when it comes out not long after the game if this is the case it really should be on the disk included in the full game.

So I went for option 3.

I picked up Lost Odyssey in preperation for when we in the west finally get our hands on Final Fantasy 13 to get me back into practice of Jrpg's not played turn based combat sinces months of my life were taken up by final fantasy 7 & 8. And at £10 how could I not have picked it up that's £2.50 a disk so that makes it a bargain in my eye. (Even though I know its not really as it is still 1 game. The second game I picked up was ninety-nine nights for a even better value for money 99p. I gonna go and have a bash on these and see how I go but will follow this blog up once I have put in a few hours into both. The 3rd game I am looking at is oblivion I did have this before but never really got it. Think I made it just out of the sewers but everyone I speak to really raves about this game and now after playing fallout I might get it. By get it I mean the game sinks in for me and I might enjoy it would love to hear your views on this game.
